Old Credit Brewing is Port Credit’s own brewery — and at over 30 years of operation, one of the longest-running craft breweries in the GTA. Founded in 1994 just off Mississauga Road as you enter Port Credit, it has been producing its classic Amber Ale and Pale Pilsner on site continuously, supplying them to LCBO locations across Mississauga and Lake Shore West, and to a roster of area restaurants and bars that reads like a Port Credit dining guide in itself.

The core beers are both deliberately classic rather than experimental — the Amber Ale has a moderate malty character with notes of toasted barley and a subtle fruity yeast character, finished with a clean, crisp lagering; the Pale Pilsner is a clean, easy-drinking lager with mild bitterness that has been one of their best-selling beers for nearly thirty years. Both are the antidote to over- complicated modern craft brewing: well-made, local, and exactly what they’re supposed to be.

In Spring 2025, Old Credit opened a taproom on the second floor of the brewery — a 35-person space available for private bookings and open on weekends for pints and flights. A seasonal patio out front and alongside the brewery extends the outdoor experience through summer. There’s no kitchen on site, but the brewery encourages visitors to order from Not Just Steaks across the road or pick up a nearby sandwich for a self-catered taproom session.

For those who want to take a piece of Port Credit home: Old Credit’s cans and bottles are sold at LCBO locations throughout the area and at the brewery’s retail space during open hours. Their beers are also on tap or in bottle at some of Port Credit and Mississauga’s most established restaurants and bars, including Snug Harbour and The Crooked Cue.
