Celebration Square is Mississauga’s beating heart — a free, fully accessible outdoor public square located right beside City Hall at 300 City Centre Drive, steps from Square One Shopping Centre. Whether you’re visiting in July for Canada Day fireworks or January for outdoor skating under festive lights, there is almost always something happening at this space. It is one of the most programmed free public venues in the GTA and the cultural centrepiece of Mississauga’s downtown core.
The Square & What’s Here
The main feature of Celebration Square is its large open plaza anchored by a permanent saugaLIVE stage that has hosted everything from Bollywood performances to K-Pop showcases, hip hop artists, jazz musicians and chart-topping Canadian acts. The Great Hall provides indoor event space adjacent to the square. The plaza itself is flat, paved and fully wheelchair accessible, with ramps and pathways throughout.
Summer: Splash Pad & Fountain
From late spring through summer, the interactive fountain and splash pad opens daily from 10 AM to 9 PM — a favourite for families with young children looking to cool off on hot Mississauga days. It’s free, walk-in, and one of the most popular free summer activities in the city. The fountain lights up at night, making the square especially lively on warm evenings.
Winter: Outdoor Ice Skating
When temperatures drop, Celebration Square transforms into one of Mississauga’s most popular free outdoor skating rinks. Skate rentals are available on site for those who don’t bring their own. The rink is lit up with festive lighting and music, making it a go-to winter outing for families, couples and groups. Free accessible parking is available in the Living Arts Centre underground lot during major events.
Canada Day 2026
Celebration Square hosts Canada Day with a full day of entertainment, family fun and community spirit — including live music on the saugaLIVE Stage, interactive experiences at Camp Canuck, face painting, kids’ play zones and a spectacular Tim Hortons fireworks finale. It is consistently one of the largest Canada Day celebrations in Mississauga.
FIFA World Cup 2026 — Official Fan Experience
Celebration Square is hosting Canada Celebrates the FIFA World Cup 2026 Official Fan Experience, with free public viewings of matches on big screens — making it the go-to spot in Mississauga for watching the World Cup with thousands of fellow fans all summer.
New Year’s Eve
Mississauga’s biggest New Year’s Eve celebration takes place at Celebration Square, featuring global sounds, emerging Canadian artists, a Junior Confetti Countdown at 9 PM for families and a Tim Hortons fireworks finale at midnight.
Year-Round Festivals & Events
Celebration Square hosts one of the most diverse festival calendars of any public space in Ontario. Regular annual events include the Mosaic South Asian Festival (August), Rock the Coliseum Indie Music Festival (August), Latin Festival (summer), Japan Festival Canada (summer), ItalFest (summer), Egyptian Coptic Festival (September), Hong Kong Festival, Movie Nights Under the Stars (summer), Living With Wellness Festival, and numerous cultural and community celebrations reflecting Mississauga’s multicultural population. The square’s permanent stage has hosted local musicians and dancers across all genres, from hip hop to Bollywood.

Getting There
Celebration Square is at 300 City Centre Drive, Mississauga, ON L5B 3C1, directly beside Mississauga City Hall and a 5-minute walk from Square One Shopping Centre. MiWay buses serve City Centre Drive throughout the day. The Living Arts Centre underground parking lot offers free accessible parking during major events. Paid parking is available in the Square One and Civic Centre lots nearby.
Bringing Food & Drinks: Outside food and non-alcoholic beverages are generally welcome. Some ticketed events may have specific guidelines — check the event page before attending.
