A dense, eclectic neighbourhood west of Spadina and south of College, Kensington Market has been a landing point for successive waves of immigrants since the early 20th century — vintage shops, Caribbean bakeries, Latin American grocers, a fishmonger, and at least one building covered entirely in murals all sit within a few compact blocks. The last Sunday of every month from May through October is Pedestrian Sunday, when cars are banned and the streets fill with performers and vendors. One of the best neighbourhoods in Toronto for an unstructured afternoon of wandering and eating.
