The FIFA World Cup 2026 is here — and Mississauga has one of the largest public viewing setups in Canada. From June 11 to July 19, Celebration Square in downtown Mississauga is screening select matches on its large outdoor screens as part of the city’s “Watch the World Play” program, and every single screening is free and open to the public.
Co-hosted by Canada, the United States and Mexico, the FIFA World Cup 2026 runs from June 11 to July 19, bringing 48 teams together for 104 matches across the continent, including games in Toronto.
Why Celebration Square
Mississauga Celebration Square is planning to broadcast 59 matches over 23 tournament days, planned around previously scheduled festivals and events. This includes all three Canada Group Stage games, the Round of 32 and the Final.
That’s one of the most comprehensive public screening programs of any venue in the country. Mississauga is planning one of the region’s largest public viewing experiences, with 59 matches scheduled to be broadcast across 23 days at Celebration Square.
Residents and visitors can enjoy the beautiful game at family-friendly public match screenings in a safe, welcoming environment for fans of all ages. The award-winning accessible space also offers assistive listening devices available upon request.
Canada’s Games — All Shown on the Big Screen
All Canada matches during the Group Stage of the tournament will be shown on the big screens. Here are Canada’s confirmed Group Stage matches at Celebration Square:
- June 12 — Canada vs. Bosnia and Herzegovina — 3:00 PM
- June 18 — Canada vs. Qatar — 6:00 PM
- June 24 — Canada vs. Switzerland (time TBC)
Beyond Canada’s games, matches from all major nations are included in the rotation — from the opening matches on June 11 through the Round of 32, Quarter-Finals, Semi-Finals, and the Final on July 19.
Round of 32 and Beyond — Still Playing Now
Round of 32 action begins on Sunday, with Canada vs. South Africa shown at 3:00 PM.
As of this week, Round of 32 matches are underway. Upcoming matches at Celebration Square include:
- Brazil vs. Japan — 1:00 PM
- Netherlands vs. Morocco — 9:00 PM

Late Night Matches
With many of the matches to be held on the west coast in both Canada and the US, fans in Mississauga and elsewhere in the east will be watching late-night action into the wee hours in some cases.
Some matches screen as late as 11:00 PM or past midnight due to the time difference with West Coast venues. Late-night screenings are part of the regular schedule and are included in the free public access.
Bars and Restaurants Staying Open Later
Throughout World Cup action, Mississauga restaurants and bars can serve alcohol to customers for an extra hour every day — Mississauga city council agreed to request that the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario permit licensed local bars and restaurants to extend the hours of alcohol service to 3 AM during the World Cup to coincide with late-night match broadcasts and to support local businesses while allowing fans to watch matches together.
The restaurants and bars surrounding Celebration Square — on City Centre Drive, Hurontario Street, and in the Square One vicinity — are all within walking distance, making for a natural post-match gathering point.

Practical Tips
Arrive early for popular matches, particularly Canada games and Round of 32 and beyond — Celebration Square has a long record of successfully hosting public viewings of major international sporting tournaments, including previous FIFA World Cup and UEFA Euro Cup events.
Bring a chair or blanket — the square has some seating but large crowds fill it quickly. The surrounding steps and open areas are all part of the viewing experience.
Check the schedule the morning of your visit — matches and schedules are subject to change, and not all matches will be shown at Celebration Square.
It is completely free — no ticket, no registration, no cost. Show up, find a spot, watch the match.
